At 20, Jazz Pianist Ido Haimovich has performed and recorded in some of the most esteemed venues in Israel and Boston. He has performed with the likes of Darren Barrett, Jacques Schwartz-Bart, Sean Skeete, Ron Reid, and is a part of the Ralph Peterson Gen-Next Big Band.

 

Born in Queens, New York, he grew up in a small town in North Israel. Classically trained on Piano, at 13 he began studying Jazz with Ph.D. Raz Yitzhaki and developed a deep love for Jazz. 

Despite only having studied music for 2 years, at age 14 he began his studies at Thelma Yellin High School of the Arts, studying Jazz Theory, Arrangement, Ear Training and Improvisation. During his time at the esteemed arts high school, Ido began performing at Israel's finest venues for Jazz including Shablul, The Zone as well The Red Sea Jazz Festival. Ido received a full scholarship to attend the Berklee College of Music Jazz Workshop led by Terri Lyn Carrington. During this time he audition for the college and received a full-tuition scholarship to get pursue an undergraduate degree at the college.

During Ido's studies at Berklee College of Music he has studied with some of the greatest music educators in the world such as Terence Blanchard, Ben Street, Joanne Brackeen, Ralph Peterson, Dave Santoro and Alain Mallet. He has also attended the Betty Carter Jazz Ahead Program at the Kennedy Center where he studied with Dee Dee Bridgewater, Jason Moran, Mark Whitfield and Reuben Rogers, among others.

While Ido's musical influences are varied, the strongest among them are Jazz, classical music, and Israeli Folk music. In his own music he strives to display an original sound, play with intention and honesty and move the listener.
